THREE DAYS IN LISBON: THE PERFECT ITINERARY

When it comes to travelling to Lisbon, you want to make sure you make the most of your visit. Too many people waste their time while in the capital trying to figure out things to do and where to go. Have it all planned out before you get there with this itinerary of what to see in Lisbon.

DAY 1 :

Activity 1: Explore Alfama and Baixa

Start your morning by exploring the beautiful and popular districts of Alfama and Baixa. While they are near each other, they are completely different to one another. You’ll see the history and adaption of Lisbon while in both areas. While Alfama is one of the oldest areas and still standing, Baixa had to be reconstructed after a devastating earthquake in 1755, so is one of the first grid-layout areas.

Activity 2: Check out the artisan area of Chiado

Take a trip to the artisan area of Lisbon, where you’ll find all the best theatres and museums. The central square itself is dedicated to poet Luis de Camoes, who came from the country. Don’t forget to stop in one of the coffee shops for a drink and bite to eat.

DAY 2 :

Activity 1: See the sights from the hills

Lisbon is one of the hilliest parts of Europe, but that’s a good thing. You’ll see views that you’ve only ever seen in pictures. Make sure you go to at least one of three Miradouros (viewpoints) in the capital city. They’re all very clearly signposted, so you can’t miss them. Wear comfortable shoes for today’s trip out.

Activity 2: Go on the 28 Tram

The 28 Tram will take you through the whole city. The problem is that it gets busy. You may want to wait until later in the day to jump on and explore all the sights.

Activity 3: Visit Bairro Alto

Take a trip to the best nightclub area of the city for the second night. Bairro Alto is full of local Fado music. It can be haunting, but it’s an experience that you don’t want to miss. There are plenty of live music venues to choose from.

DAY 3 :

Activity 1: Visit the Belem District

For your final day of what to see in Lisbon, you want to go to the Belem District. You’ll likely spend the whole day here, thanks to all the tourist attractions. If you didn’t get on the 28 Tram yesterday, use it today to get to the district. Stop in at as many tourist attractions as you possibly can and don’t forget to grab food surrounded by the picturesque River Tejo.

Some of the places you’ll want to visit while here are the Torre de Belem, the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, and the Belem Cultural Centre, which is a free art gallery. You can also take a ferry ride across the river for less than 3 Euros.

Day three is going to be spent in one area, but there’s just so much to do. Take your itinerary and stop wondering what to see in Lisbon when you get there. This is your chance to explore the city for everything it has to offer.
