Founded in 1994, DRM operates as Deutsche Reisemobil Vermietungs GmbH and is part of the Trigano group. Its headquarters are in Markt Schwaben, near Munich. The business rents vehicles directly rather than acting as a broker, with a German station network that also includes partner-operated locations.
The fleet brings together vehicles from Eura Mobil, Karmann Mobil, Forster and Volkswagen. That mix gives DRM a presence in both compact camper rental and the more traditional European motorhome market, with separate commercial families for vans, slim motorhomes, comfort models, family vehicles and its luxury offering.

DRM’s range rewards choosing a layout before choosing a size. There are meaningful steps between its vehicle groups, so moving into a larger motorhome can buy a different sleeping arrangement or more living comfort rather than simply extra places. That makes the offer useful for travellers with specific priorities inside the vehicle.
The rental needs more planning around the vehicle itself. Driver eligibility, collection windows and route permissions can determine whether a particular group and itinerary work together. DRM suits a planned trip better than an open-ended booking made on the assumption that every vehicle and every route follow the same rules.
Good points
- Comfort options for smaller parties.Higher-comfort layouts are not confined to large families. Two-person and three-berth motorhomes provide options such as separate showers, Alde heating and double floors, giving smaller parties a reason to look beyond the compact end of the fleet.
- Dogs without a rental surcharge.DRM permits dogs without an additional dog charge. This removes a specific extra from the budget for travellers bringing a pet, while the normal return-cleaning requirements still apply.
- Distance allowance for longer trips.The standard tariff includes unlimited mileage. That is useful for a longer itinerary with several stops, provided the booking is not a short-rental or promotional tariff with different mileage terms.
Things to consider
- Pickup and return shape the travel dates.The usual collection window is a weekday afternoon, with return on a weekday morning. Saturday handovers require an arrangement and an extra fee, so the station schedule deserves attention before booking connecting travel.
- Mixed experiences after a problem.Seven customer accounts dated between June 2025 and July 2026 give a mixed picture. Two describe smooth handovers at Hilden, while three report vehicle problems accompanied by dissatisfaction with help or resolution. Another describes a battery fault followed by a helpful hotline response and a prompt rental reduction. These accounts show different outcomes across individual trips, rather than a reliable measure of service across the network.

DRM divides its range into 19 rental groups, from compact pop-top campers to a fully integrated motorhome. The largest part of the choice lies between those ends: panel vans, slim low-profile models and several comfort-oriented layouts.
Compact campers and vans
The three pop-top groups combine four travel seats with four sleeping places. M1 and M2 use an electrically raised roof; M4GC has a manually raised pop-top. They have no built-in toilet, although a portable toilet is available as an optional extra. V2L and V3 move to a panel van with an indoor bathroom and two sleeping places. The V2L’s rear longitudinal beds are unequal, at about 200 cm and 175 cm, which matters when choosing where each person will sleep. V3’s rear singles can form a double.
Beds, bathrooms and living space
S3 concentrates its space on two people, with a central drop-down double bed and a large rear bathroom with a separate shower. S2 and S4 provide additional sleeping places in different combinations. The K range broadens the bed choice further, including rear singles, transverse or side beds and K5Q’s queen-bed layout with a face-to-face lounge.
Several comfort models add Alde heating and a double floor. Living-area air conditioning is fitted to S2, S3, S4, K4 and K5E and runs on 230 V; it should not be treated as cooling that will run while parked without an external power supply. K1 and K2D have living-area ventilation fans instead.
Family layouts and heavier vehicles
The F range uses an overcab bed to leave other sleeping and living areas available below. F3 combines this with rear singles and includes Isofix; F4 adds a bunk-bed arrangement and has two Isofix points. Its upper bunk has an approximate 75 kg limit. F2, despite its family label, has three travel seats and three sleeping places.
K5E, K5Q and L1 are all 4,250 kg vehicles. A standard category B licence is insufficient for these groups: the required entitlement matters even for K5Q, which accommodates just two people. L1 adds a fully integrated body with rear singles and a drop-down double at the front.

Which DRM groups have a toilet and an indoor shower?
V2L and V3 and the S, K, F and L groups have built-in toilets and indoor showers. M1, M2 and M4GC are pop-top campers without a built-in toilet; they have an outdoor shower or connection, with a portable toilet available as an extra.
Can I drive every DRM motorhome with a category B licence?
No. K5E Classic Excellence, K5Q Classic Queen and L1 Luxury Star each weigh 4,250 kg and require C1 or a qualifying old German class 3 entitlement. DRM also requires drivers to be at least 21 and to have held the required licence for two years.
Does DRM guarantee the vehicle model shown for a group?
The booking is for a rental group. A Volkswagen, Forster, Karmann Mobil or Eura Mobil model shown as an example does not guarantee that exact vehicle will be assigned.
Can five people travel and sleep in a DRM vehicle?
F4 Family Plus has five travel seats and five sleeping places. Its layout combines an overcab bed, rear bunks and a dinette arrangement; the upper bunk has an approximate 75 kg limit. F3 has four seats and four sleeping places, while F2 accommodates three.
Does DRM’s optional excess insurance reduce the pickup deposit?
No. DRM still requires EUR 2,000 security, and its EUR 2,000 per-incident excess remains payable. The optional external policy reimburses eligible amounts above EUR 250, within its incident and policy limits. It is not a reduction of the security required at collection.
Can I take a DRM motorhome to Norway or Sweden?
Yes, provided the required Cross Border Fee has been booked. The same requirement applies to Finland and governs both entry and breakdown assistance there. Ferries, bridges and road tolls are additional costs.
Is DRM’s Salzburg pickup station in Austria?
The Freilassing/Salzburg station is in Ainring, Germany, at Thundorf 9, 83404 Ainring. It is about 15 km from Salzburg airport.
Can I bring a dog or a cat in a DRM vehicle?
Dogs are welcome without a dog surcharge. Cats are prohibited, and bringing a dog does not remove the normal obligation to return the vehicle clean.
Can I rent a DRM vehicle for less than a week?
The usual minimum is seven nights outside peak season and 13 nights in peak season. Shorter bookings may be possible for gaps in the schedule or at short notice, rather than as the standard rental pattern.
