Good points

Smaller vehicles with a bathroom.Brodie, Harris and the MacBeth variants combine two-person sleeping arrangements with a WC and indoor shower. They offer an alternative to a larger motorhome when bathroom facilities matter more than extra berths.
Distance is included.Unlimited mileage is included in ordinary hire, so the distance covered does not attract a routine per-mile charge. Restrictions on where the vehicle may be driven still apply.
Helpful handovers and staff assistance.Several customer accounts published in 2024–25 describe useful briefings, helpful staff or straightforward collection and return. One traveller also described receiving a portable heater and bedding after a heating fault. Things to consider

Four adults change the financial terms.For a motorhome carrying four or more adults, both the security deposit and the damage excess rise to £2,500. The optional collision damage waiver is unavailable to that group, limiting the scope to reduce the standard excess.
A berth is not a suitable child seat.The five-seat Bruce layouts include a sideways-facing seat with a lap belt, while Munro and Munro Automatic include two rear-facing seats with lap belts. Families need the restraint arrangement to suit their passengers; sleeping capacity alone does not settle that choice.

Go Explore Scotland's range spans compact pop-tops, bathroom-equipped campervans and motorhomes sleeping up to six.

The Wallace family concentrates on bed choice within a four-berth motorhome. Standard and Auto versions use a rear island bed, while Auto Twin Bed has rear singles that can join together. Compact versions stay below six metres and use a transverse rear double alongside a drop-down bed. Automatic and layout variants remain separate choices; an automatic gearbox is not implied by the wider family name.

Bruce extends sleeping capacity to five, with an island-bed or twin-bed version. Munro moves into overcab layouts for up to six, including versions with bunks. The right choice depends on who uses each bed as well as the travelling-seat arrangement. Go Explore Scotland books categories, so particular layout requirements need to be agreed for the vehicle supplied.

Among the campervans, Outlander uses a pop-top and a convertible lower bed. Outlander Auto has five travel seats but sleeps up to four. For two people, MacBeth provides a rear double, Brodie converts its rear lounge into a bed, and Harris uses a central lounge with an L-shaped kitchen. Caledonia adds a raised-roof sleeping area to a transverse double and has an electric-flush WC. All vehicles are right-hand drive.

Reserving and paying	A non-refundable £200 reservation deposit secures the booking, with the balance due six weeks before collection. Both payments count towards the hire price; neither is a security deposit or an extra booking fee. Cards and bank transfer are accepted; American Express is not.
Security deposit	£2,000 is payable at collection, rising to £2,500 for a motorhome with four or more adults. The deposit is refundable subject to return and inspection; refunds normally take five to seven working days.
Damage excess	The standard excess is £2,000, or £2,500 for a motorhome with four or more adults, and applies per occurrence. It is separate from the security deposit. Overhead, awning and interior damage, intentional damage and gross negligence sit outside the stated cover; the excess is not a ceiling on every liability.
Collision damage waiver	Optional CDW costs £30 per day and reduces the standard £2,000 excess to £1,000. It is unavailable to drivers under 30 and to parties of four or more adults. This excess reduction does not establish a lower security deposit.
Windscreen and tyre waivers	Windscreen cover costs £195 per hire, tyre cover £195 per hire, or both £350 per hire. These reduce the respective excesses to zero, rather than removing the excess for all damage.
Mileage and drivers	Ordinary hire includes unlimited mileage and insurance for one named driver. An additional driver costs £12.50 per night for the whole hire.
Driving documents	Drivers need a full licence held for at least three years. Licences from the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Australia are routinely accepted; other issuing jurisdictions require insurer approval. Bring the physical licence and a second form of identification: digital or copied documents are not accepted.
Collection appointment	Motorhome arrival times are 09:30–16:00; campervan arrival times are 09:00–16:00. Arrange an appointment. All drivers must attend, and the handover takes around 30–45 minutes after the paperwork. Customer parking is free on site.
Sunday collection or return	The online booking system does not accept hires starting or ending on Sunday. A Sunday arrangement may be possible through the office; it is not guaranteed.
Airport and station transfers	Optional transfers connect the Glasgow operation with Glasgow International, Edinburgh International, Glasgow Prestwick and Shettleston station. These are transfer points, not collection branches.
Hire length and return time	The maximum hire is 28 days. A return later in the day than the collection time adds a night in the booking calculation. Unarranged late return is a separate charge of £95 per hour, including VAT.
Late collection	Late collection attracts £65 for the first hour or part-hour, then £35 for each further half-hour. Collection is not permitted after 20:00.
Where you can drive	Travel outside Great Britain requires written permission. Unauthorised travel can incur up to £500 per country and uninsured liability. Closed or restricted roads, beaches and water crossings are prohibited; off-road recovery is the renter's responsibility.
Included equipment	Kitchen equipment, an outdoor table and chairs, cleaning supplies, a hose, levelling blocks and an electric hook-up cable are included.
Bedding and towels	Bedding is an optional £40 per bed; towels cost £10 per person.
Child equipment	Optional child seats cost £30 per hire, bed rails £15 and buggies £25. Suitability must be agreed for the vehicle and child; a booking for equipment does not establish ISOFIX compatibility.
Pets	Hire a designated pet-friendly vehicle. Options include Bruce Auto, Munro and MacBeth; pet permission does not extend automatically to every vehicle in those families.
Fuel and gas on return	A fuel shortfall incurs £25 plus the cost of fuel. Returning an empty gas bottle attracts a £40 charge.
Waste and cleaning	Waste tanks must be emptied and rinsed; failure to do so incurs £75. Excessive cleaning costs £195.
Smoking and pet-rule charges	Smoking or vaping incurs £295. Cleaning following a breach of pet rules costs £195, while an unauthorised pet incurs £295.
Breakdown assistance	Roadside assistance is included. Repairs or towing require office approval before reimbursement.
Winter water systems	Below 5°C inside the vehicle, the water system may shut down and drain. Go Explore Scotland recommends campsites for winter use. This is a water-system condition, not a minimum permitted driving temperature.
Campsite schemes	The Camping and Caravanning Club Privilege Scheme is included. Membership of the separate Caravan and Motorhome Club is an optional £60 per year.

Can I collect a Go Explore Scotland campervan in Edinburgh?

Collection is in Glasgow. An optional transfer from Edinburgh International Airport can take you to the Glasgow operation; it does not make Edinburgh a separate rental branch.

Can I start or finish my hire on a Sunday?

You cannot select a Sunday start or finish in Go Explore Scotland's online booking system. The office may be able to arrange it separately, so a Sunday plan needs direct agreement before you rely on it.

Which Go Explore Scotland campervans have an indoor shower?

Brodie, Harris, MacBeth, MacBeth Auto and MacBeth Pet Friendly have an indoor shower and WC. They all sleep two. This makes bathroom facilities available within the campervan range, without moving to one of the larger motorhomes.

Does Outlander Auto sleep five people?

No. Outlander Auto has five travel seats but a maximum sleeping capacity of four. The extra seat does not add another bed.
