Happy Campers is a New Zealand campervan rental brand whose rental contract names Lucky Rentals Limited as the contracting company. Its operation is based around airport-area depots in Auckland and Christchurch, with rentals available between the two cities as well as trips returning to the same base.
Its airport transfers are shared with Lucky Rentals and Euro Campers; the shared shuttle does not mean that those brands have the same vehicles or rental conditions.

The appeal is in keeping the vehicle modest and choosing the comforts that matter for the trip. Happy Campers works better as a practical base for sleeping and cooking than as a substitute for spacious accommodation. Some categories combine older chassis with more recent interiors, so the experience depends on the vehicle category and its condition, not simply the fitout date. That makes this an offer to assess on everyday usability rather than newness or luxury.

- Most of the rental payment can wait until collection.The NZ$99 booking advance leaves the balance payable at pickup, reducing the amount paid before the trip. It is separate from the security hold required when taking the vehicle.

The fleet consists of petrol Toyota vehicles, moving from a small sleeper into low- and high-roof Hiace campervans. The important differences are living space, power supply and bathroom equipment, rather than a choice between large motorhome body styles.
Trail is the simplest option: an Alphard or Estima with a bed, an 18-litre fridge and a single-burner stove. Its 1.20-metre interior height leaves little room to move around upright. Scout adds a fixed toilet and an interior table but remains low-roof, with a cooler box rather than a fridge and no onboard power supply, heating or solar.
Horizon provides 1.95 metres of interior height, a 60-litre fridge, solar power and a roof bed. Summit adds a shower and hot and cold water. Cruise is the option with four travel seats and four sleeping places, though it has no interior table. The roof beds in the high-roof models are part of their sleeping arrangements, rather than evidence of additional legal travel seats.
Happy Campers describes Scout, Horizon, Summit and Cruise as green self-contained; Trail is not self-contained. A portable toilet or solar-shower accessory does not change Trail's stated status.
Vehicle age also varies. Trail's chassis range is 2011–2016 with interiors fitted in 2023–2024; Summit's ranges are 2018–2025 and 2024–2026 respectively. Cruise has 2011–2019 ranges for both chassis and interior. Those distinctions matter when weighing a fresh interior against the age of the underlying vehicle; they do not promise a particular vehicle year at collection.

Happy Cruise has four travel seats and four sleeping places. Happy Summit has three travel seats, so it is not an option for four people travelling together in one vehicle. Child-restraint suitability needs confirmation for the specific category and child.
Are all Happy Campers vehicles self-contained?
No. Happy Campers describes Scout, Horizon, Summit and Cruise as green self-contained, while Trail is not self-contained. Choosing Trail with a portable toilet accessory does not establish self-contained certification.
Which Happy Campers vehicles have a shower?
