Karma Campervans began in Calgary in June 2018, founded by three people with previous experience in the RV industry. The business combines campervan rental with vehicle conversion and sales; its rental range follows a consistent high-roof van format rather than spanning several types of motorhome.
Its Canadian network includes both Karma premises and depots at other RV businesses. That operating model puts some pickup locations outside the cities used to describe them: Vancouver pickup is in Richmond, for example, while the Toronto location is in Bolton.

Karma makes sense as a comfortable base for a camping trip. Its value is concentrated in driving and sleeping, with more of the cooking and washing left to portable equipment or campsite facilities. That is a coherent proposition for someone who enjoys camping, but a less convincing substitute for a motorhome when most of the trip needs to happen indoors.
A settled itinerary helps keep the rental costs predictable. Payment is upfront, mileage beyond the allowance costs extra, and the chosen protection package changes both the deposit and the amount at risk. Those conditions make the fit between the van and the trip more important than the headline nightly price.

- A useful choice within one familiar format.The four-seat version adds a second queen bed, while the two-person Deluxe concentrates on equipment. That creates a clear choice between carrying more people and adding everyday comforts without moving to a different vehicle family.
- Room to organise collection around the journey.Self-service pickup from noon and return by 23:59 give renters a broad window on their first and last days. An in-person orientation can also be arranged during working hours for those who want a walkthrough.
- Positive reports about the essentials.A sample of 17 distinct Trustpilot accounts repeatedly praised sleeping comfort, driving and contactless collection. The same sample included disputes about damage and charges, so those positive experiences do not establish a uniformly trouble-free rental.
Things to consider
- Several conveniences cost extra on the standard vans.The 2 Seater and 4 Seater include a passive cooler; an electric fridge and portable toilet are optional. Their equipment costs can narrow the price gap with the Deluxe, which is limited to Calgary and Vancouver.
- Winter changes how the van functions.The pump and tap are winterized and cannot be used, and Karma recommends a mains connection below −10°C. A heated sleeping space therefore does not remove the need to plan water and electricity access.
- Returning the keys does not close the rental inspection.Responsibility can continue until the vehicle has been inspected and accepted. The self-service process makes checking the condition report and recording discrepancies an important part of both collection and return.

Karma’s range consists of three high-roof Ford Transit campervans with different sleeping arrangements and levels of equipment. The 2 Seater has one queen bed; the 4 Seater uses two queen beds in a bunk arrangement. The Deluxe keeps the two-person layout and adds a fixed 30-quart electric fridge, a composting toilet and all-wheel drive. It is offered from Calgary and Vancouver.
Across the range, a sink, portable water containers and a two-burner stove provide the basic kitchen setup. The stove must be used outside. Bedding, cookware, dishes, camping chairs and a table are included, so the distinction between categories is chiefly about sleeping space and the equipment used during the day.
Cab air conditioning serves the driving area. The fuel-fired heater provides warmth when camping, while solar charging, charging from the vehicle and USB connections support electrical use. The Deluxe has a 400 W solar array, a 300 Ah AGM battery and a 2,000 W inverter; that equipment does not make access to mains power unnecessary in every season.
All-wheel drive on the 2 Seater and 4 Seater is available on request from November to April, subject to availability. It should not be assumed from the Transit name, and no version is permitted to go off road.

Does the Deluxe have a complete indoor bathroom?
It includes a fixed composting toilet, but the shower option is a portable solar shower. Choose the Deluxe for the included toilet and electric fridge, rather than expecting a motorhome-style bathroom with an indoor hot shower.
Can four people travel and sleep in a Karma van?
Yes. The 4 Seater Karma Van has four travel seats and two queen beds arranged as bunks, providing four sleeping places. The 2 Seater and Deluxe each carry and sleep two, so the Deluxe is not a larger-capacity upgrade.
What changes when renting Karma in winter?
The fuel-fired heater remains part of the camping setup, but the water pump and tap are winterized. Water comes from a portable container, cooking stays outside, and Karma recommends a mains connection below −10°C. AWD is included on the Deluxe; on the standard vans it must be requested for November–April and costs extra.
Can I collect in Vancouver and return in Victoria?

Can a Karma rental be taken into the United States?
Yes, the direct rental conditions allow travel in Canada and the United States on suitable maintained public roads. All eight pickup locations are in Canada, so permission to cross the border does not provide a US pickup or return location. Burning Man is not permitted.
Can I bring my dog in a Karma campervan?
Karma allows dogs with prior approval and a CAD 180 charge on direct rentals. They cannot go on the beds, and the charge does not cover damage or additional cleaning. Cats are not accepted.
Does Karma’s Zero option remove the damage deductible?
No. The name refers to a CAD 0 nightly protection price, not freedom from damage costs. With Zero/own insurance, the renter pays vehicle damage and seeks reimbursement from their insurer; the refundable security deposit is CAD 5,000 and is not a liability limit.
Is a Karma rental unlimited-mileage by default?
No. Direct rentals include 200 km for each paid night, shared across the trip. Extra kilometres can be prepaid or charged at the excess rate, and an optional unlimited-distance package is available. It is a separate purchase, not a standard inclusion.
