Moterra's offer is strongest when the campervan and the trip preparation are considered together. The focused range makes the main choices understandable: extra sleeping space under a pop-top, or an indoor shower in the High Roof. Equipment and planning services give the rental more substance than a vehicle-only proposition. The main trade-off is commitment: the standard booking becomes non-refundable 45 days before departure, and distance, one-way routing and cold-weather use all need to fit the plan from the outset.
Good points
- Camping equipment is part of the rental.Bedding, towels, cookware, camp chairs and a table are included with the van. That reduces the separate equipment a traveller needs to bring or buy, especially when arriving by air.
- Useful help beyond collection.Moterra offers call and text support around the clock. In a selected set of Western US customer accounts from March 2025 to September 2026, travellers describe helpful handovers and practical assistance; accounts from Jackson and Columbia Falls include remote troubleshooting and useful guidance. Some of that help followed equipment problems, so these experiences support the value of assistance without implying trouble-free vehicles or a guaranteed response time.
Things to consider
- A firm cancellation commitment.The standard payment schedule leaves little flexibility once the balance falls due. Earlier cancellations can also retain one-way charges or itinerary deposits, making a trip with additional arrangements more consequential to cancel than a simple van reservation.
- Climate affects the onboard facilities.There is no air conditioning for use while parked, and freezing conditions can require the fresh-water system to be switched off. Choosing a shower-equipped van therefore does not ensure usable onboard plumbing throughout a winter trip.

The fleet centres on 19-foot diesel Mercedes Sprinter campervans described as four-wheel drive. All three categories share a kitchen with a fridge/freezer and propane cooking; the meaningful differences are in the beds, water capacity and bathroom arrangement.
The Classic has two double beds and emphasises floor space and storage. The Plus combines a queen lower bed with a double upper bed and adds a ten-foot awning. Its eight travel seats do not create eight sleeping places: overnight capacity remains four. Both pop-tops have a 16-US-gallon water tank and a portable toilet rather than a fixed bathroom.
The High Roof trades the upper sleeping area for an enclosed hot-water shower, overhead storage and a larger 24-US-gallon water tank. Its queen bed converts into a bench, and the portable toilet can be moved between the shower and its cabinet. This is the clearest choice within the range when indoor washing matters more than sleeping four.
The vans have no LATCH child-seat anchor system. Families using child seats need confirmation that the particular belt and seat layout supports their installation; sleeping capacity alone does not establish suitability.

A one-time USD 279 consultation provides expert advice while leaving campground and activity bookings to the traveller. It suits someone who wants help shaping a trip but prefers to make the reservations themselves.
Selected itinerary packages go further. For the Olympic and Rainier trip from Seattle, the advertised starting offer for mid-June to mid-September 2027 is USD 5,359 per couple or USD 5,799 for a family of up to four, for bookings made after 1 September 2026. It covers six nights and seven days in a Pop-Top Classic, including rental and cleaning, six campground nights, planning, specified activities, early collection and late return, and a park pass.
That is a quote-request starting offer, not a confirmed booking or an all-in trip price. Sales tax, insurance, fuel, meals, flights, extras and refundable security are excluded.

Can four people sleep in a Moterra campervan?
Yes. The Pop-Top Classic and Pop-Top Plus each sleep four, whereas the High Roof sleeps two. The Plus has eight travel seats, but its sleeping capacity is still four.
Which Moterra van has an indoor shower?
The High Roof has an enclosed hot-water shower. The two pop-top categories have an exterior rinse hose and no indoor shower, with a solar shower and privacy tent available as an extra. Winter water-system deactivation can make the High Roof's shower unusable on a freezing-weather trip.
Can I collect in Whitefish and return in Jackson Hole?
Moterra offers this one-way route, subject to the chosen dates and arrangements through its sales team. The Whitefish hub's physical pickup is in Columbia Falls. One-way rentals require at least five nights, and a route fee may apply; an advertised immediate-repositioning example reaches USD 1,300 in either direction.
Is Moterra's Portland, Maine hub open?
It is closed for the 2026 season. A return is planned for 2027, but that plan does not confirm an opening date or vehicles for a particular trip.
Can I bring a dog in a Moterra van?
Pets need Moterra's permission. A USD 100 dog-cleaning charge applies in addition to the standard cleaning charge, so it should be included when comparing the cost of travelling with a dog.
Does Moterra allow its four-wheel-drive vans off road?
Dirt-road travel is restricted to maintained roads. The four-wheel-drive specification does not override the rental restrictions, and off-road damage is excluded from the collision damage waiver. Burning Man trips are not permitted.
Does Moterra's cancellation protection let me cancel for any reason without a loss?
