Petroni d.o.o. runs a camping-vehicle business in Zagreb, combining rental with sales, workshop services, parts and camper conversions. Its roots are in the automotive trade: the business began with car parts in 1992, added a caravanning division in 2005 and imported its first campers in 2006. Camping vehicles and equipment became its exclusive focus in 2012.
The rental operation centres on the Zagreb depot. Collection elsewhere is arranged around that base, including several Croatian airports and airport handovers in neighbouring countries. The range includes both self-propelled vehicles and caravans that need to be towed; these are separate rental choices with different practical requirements.

Petroni offers a useful combination of vehicle choice and individually arranged collection. The range accommodates quite different holidays, from a two-person van trip to a larger party travelling together, while the arranged airport services widen the options for linking a flight with the rental. That flexibility works best when the collection plan, vehicle layout and rental length are settled together: the cheapest starting rate alone is a poor guide to which arrangement will suit the trip.
The service remains centred on one depot. Choosing a distant handover point can add substantially to the cost, and a longer journey also needs to account for the limits of the recovery service. Petroni is consequently a more convincing option for a planned holiday with a settled itinerary than for a brief, open-ended rental.

- Useful choices for larger travelling parties.The Kronos 277M combines seven travel seats with seven sleeping places, while the six-seat Kilig 50 has an overcab double and four rear bunks. These give families and groups distinct sleeping arrangements to choose from, rather than simply a larger version of a two-person van.
- An automatic motorhome with child-seat provision.The McLouis MC4 873 combines an eight-speed automatic gearbox, five belted travel seats and provision for up to two ISOFIX seats. That is a useful combination for a family looking beyond bed count when choosing its vehicle.
Things to consider
- Distant airport handovers are a significant extra.The listed Dubrovnik transfer service costs EUR 800; Split and Pula are EUR 520 each. These are separately priced services, so an airport that is convenient for the flight can materially change the rental budget.
- Short breaks fall outside the minimum hire periods.Petroni requires at least five nights in low season, seven in mid-season and ten in high season. A two-night weekend is not available under these minimums.
- Recovery has a distance limit.The motorhome recovery provision includes transport back to the depot only within 600 km. Beyond that distance, the renter bears the full transport cost, and accommodation or onward travel is excluded.

Petroni's range spans compact conversions, panel-van campers, larger motorhomes and towable caravans. Its Elite, Comfort, Duo 4×4 and Eco names are rental tiers; the layout and equipment of the individual vehicle are more useful guides to what each offers.
For two people, the Petrovan provides a compact VW T6 conversion with a double bed, while the longer Boxdrive has two separate rear beds. The 5.99-metre CaraTour combines a panel-van body with a toilet and indoor shower, with provision for a third sleeping place. The BudgetVan takes a simpler approach, using a portable cooker and chemical toilet; its living-space ventilation should not be mistaken for air conditioning.
Larger vehicles offer different ways to divide the sleeping space. Rear bunks are central to the Kilig 50 and Kronos 277M layouts, while the McLouis combines rear twin beds that can be joined with other sleeping arrangements. The EVO Sound has seven sleeping places but only six travel seats, so the sleeping figure cannot be used as its passenger capacity.
The two CaraOne caravans add a separate towing option, with six or seven sleeping places. They should be considered independently of the motorhomes: neither their towing requirements nor their rental conditions can be assumed to match a self-propelled vehicle.

Which Petroni vehicles can carry a larger family?
