Road Bear RV rents and sells recreational vehicles in the United States. Established in 1980, the brand became part of Tourism Holdings Limited, or thl, in 2010. The group is based in New Zealand, while Road Bear’s rental operation has a US station network.
El Monte RV is a sister brand. The rental agreement names El Monte Rents, Inc., trading as Road Bear RV and El Monte RV, as the legal lessor. That shared corporate structure does not make the two brands’ vehicles or rental terms interchangeable.

The strongest part of Road Bear’s offer is the range of living arrangements within a focused motorhome fleet. Choosing a category lets the rental revolve around how people will sleep and use the interior; the Saver option instead trades that control for a potential discount. The distinction matters more than simply choosing the largest vehicle available.
Budgeting takes a little more work. Mileage, equipment and protection need to be considered alongside the vehicle rate, and a well-equipped RV can still leave meaningful costs with the renter. The offer rewards a clear choice of layout and rental package rather than a decision based on the headline price alone.

Road Bear’s fleet concentrates on gasoline motorhomes with indoor kitchens and bathrooms, from the low-profile SVC to larger Class C layouts. The Class C vehicles use an overcab sleeping area; the SVC has no cabover bed. Medium and Large categories include a slide-out, while the SVC’s rear extension must be opened to use its main bed.
Party composition deserves attention as well as the headline sleeping capacity. The Medium and Large layouts combine rear, overcab, dinette and sofa beds, and their shorter sofa beds are not equivalent to full-size adult beds. The SVC’s convertible dinette bed measures 42 × 68 inches, making its two-adult, two-small-child description more informative than a simple four-person label.
A reservation is for a category, with representative layouts and specifications rather than a guaranteed manufacturer or exact model. If the reserved category is unavailable, the contract allows a higher category without an extra charge or a contractual adjustment for a lower category. A larger replacement can affect campsite-length requirements.
Saver 4 is a different way to book a Class C, rather than a fifth physical vehicle type. It accommodates up to two adults and two small children, with Small, Medium or Large assigned at pickup. That means accepting a possible length from 23 to 31 ft. It is unsuitable when a particular layout or maximum length is essential.

Can I choose the RV supplied under Saver 4?
No. Road Bear assigns a Class C Small, Medium or Large at pickup. Saver 4 is for up to two adults and two small children, and the assigned vehicle can be 23–31 ft long. Choose a specified category instead if a particular size is essential, while remembering that category substitution remains possible under the rental contract.
Is Road Bear’s Super Van Camper a converted van?
It is a Class B+ low-profile coachbuilt motorhome, without an overcab bed. Its rear bed folds for travel and needs the rear slide-out extended for sleeping, so the name should not be read as describing a conventional panel-van camper.
Can I collect a Road Bear RV in Dallas?
No. The Dallas/McKinney location accepts returns only on request, with an extra charge and no shuttle. Pickup must be arranged at one of the seven ordinary stations.
Can I collect my Road Bear RV straight after an international flight?
The contract prohibits pickup on the day of an international, transcontinental or overseas arrival. Arrange collection for a later day and organize the depot transfer separately.
Does VIP Plus remove all financial risk?
No. It reduces responsibility to zero only for covered physical damage. Excluded damage can remain chargeable, and a security deposit may still be required. Overhead clearance, underbody damage and freezing are among the exclusions that matter when planning and operating the RV.
Can I use the shower during a winterized rental?
Not normally. Road Bear’s winterization procedure restricts use of the water system, even though a shower is fitted. Interior heating does not make the plumbing ready for normal use. Any change to the vehicle’s winterized state needs the appropriate authorization and may involve a charge.
Can I take a Road Bear RV into Canada?
Canada is within the conditional permitted travel area, subject to the required notification or booking permission. Travel to Yukon or the Northwest Territories needs prior written authorization and the Far North supplement. This does not create a Canadian pickup or return network, or permission to use every road.
Does Drop & Go let me leave the vehicle without a handover?
No. The service reduces specified cleaning and waste-disposal duties, but an employee handover and inspection remain necessary. It does not include washing cookware or unlimited cleaning, and it cannot be used for Burning Man rentals.
