Company overview
Touring Cars began renting motorhomes in Finland in 1982 and developed into a Nordic service chain from 1985. It remains a family business, with its headquarters in Vantaa, where it also has its Helsinki rental station. Alongside rentals, the business sells and maintains vehicles in Finland, Norway, Estonia and England.
Its franchise model dates from 2013. Today the network combines Touring Cars Locations with collaborating Partner Locations, including Madrid. Amsterdam and Madrid joined in 2026, extending a network whose strongest concentration remains in northern Europe. On direct bookings, TC Vehicle Oy acts as an intermediary; the local rental company named in the agreement supplies the vehicle. Renting under one brand therefore does not mean signing with the same legal supplier at every station.

Touring Cars combines a substantial choice of vehicle formats with a service package that extends beyond collecting the keys. The range is particularly useful for travellers who want to choose between a campervan and a larger motorhome without automatically moving into a category designed for a bigger party. Transfers, familiarisation and technical assistance give the rental a considered structure, although the experience still depends on the local supplier and the individual vehicle.
The main trade-off is the financial commitment around that service. Cancellation charges rise sharply close to departure, while optional protection reduces specified liabilities rather than removing every possible loss. The amount paid to reserve the vehicle is only one part of the commitment: renters also need capacity on a credit card for the security hold.
Good points
- Transmission choice across much of the range.Manual and automatic versions are separate booking categories in several two-, four- and five-person formats. Travellers can select that distinction at category level instead of treating an automatic gearbox as an incidental feature of an example vehicle.
- Rental kilometres are included.The standard direct rental includes unlimited kilometres. That removes a rental-distance allowance from the calculation for a longer trip; it does not turn tolls or other route charges into inclusions.
- Helpful support appears in customer accounts.Some customer accounts from Norway, Finland and the UK describe helpful transfers, staff and assistance after pickup. Iceland-specific accounts also include efficient transfers and responsive support.
Things to consider
- Reduced excess still leaves exposure.TC Premium retains a per-incident excess in the markets detailed below. Separate incidents can create separate liabilities, and excluded damage is not brought into cover simply by choosing a lower excess.
- Equipment and condition deserve attention at handover.Some customer accounts describe faults, worn extras or cleaning lapses alongside the positive service experiences. A thorough vehicle introduction is especially useful when it includes time to identify and resolve these practical problems before departure.

Touring Cars' range runs from compact campervans to six-person motorhomes, with a particularly broad selection for two travellers.
The pop-top Urban Van is the simpler format, with a portable WC and no indoor shower. CAMP Automatic adds an indoor shower and diesel heating, but its 230 V induction hob needs an external electricity supply. The high-roof Van and Van Automatic offer two-person accommodation with a cassette toilet and shower. These are meaningful differences for choosing a vehicle, even though all sit within the smaller end of the range.
Small and Small Automatic move two travellers into a low-profile motorhome. Bed arrangements can vary, so the category name alone does not establish a rear double or twin-bed layout. Small Luxury Automatic is offered in Finland and adds a package of linen, kitchenware, camping furniture, gas, toilet chemical and final cleaning. The four-person Luxury Automatic also includes living-area air conditioning and is offered at Helsinki, Oslo, Tromsø and Stockholm.
For four travellers, Medium combines rear sleeping space with a ceiling pull-down bed. Family 5 uses a rear-bunk arrangement, while Large 5 offers an overcab layout with a rear double and convertible dinette. Both are five-person categories. A party of six needs the separate Large 6 Automatic category; counting beds in a photograph or an illustrative layout is not a substitute for the category's approved capacity.
The two 4×4 variants have different specifications. The manual Van 4×4 is offered at Keflavik and has the narrowly defined Iceland road permissions described below. The automatic version has a portable rather than cassette WC, and its name does not confer the same road permission.
Vehicle makes and layouts are illustrative: Touring Cars permits a similar or higher-category replacement. Awnings are excluded from Urban Van, CAMP Automatic, Van 4×4 Automatic and Iceland rentals. Bicycle racks are fitted to some units but are not guaranteed. These details matter more to the final choice than the manufacturer pictured beside a category.

Is Touring Cars' Manchester pickup actually in Manchester?
The UK rental station is in Ellesmere Port, under the Chester location name. It uses the booking code MAN. Manchester and Liverpool airports, plus Chester railway station, are transfer points rather than extra rental offices.
Where do I collect a Touring Cars vehicle booked for Amsterdam?
The station is at Tolboomweg 1 in Terschuur, outside central Amsterdam. A transfer can be arranged from the Schiphol Meeting Point, so the airport and the vehicle collection address are different places.
Does Touring Cars have a motorhome for six people?
Large 6 Automatic has six travel seats and capacity for six sleepers. Family 5, Family 5 Automatic and the Large 5 variants accommodate five, even where an illustrative bed arrangement might suggest more sleeping space.
Can I book a Touring Cars automatic campervan?
Yes. Automatic campervan categories include Urban Van Automatic, CAMP Automatic, Van Automatic and Van 4×4 Automatic. Their toilet, shower and sleeping specifications differ, and the category offered depends on the pickup station and dates.
Can I take a Touring Cars 4×4 onto Iceland's F-roads?
